About Buster and Joplin
Buster Blues is a first generation male who was raised by Founder Pair #2
(Prophecy and Fantasy). He hatched July 9, 2001, and along with clutch mate Layla remained as a family unit until
summer 2002 when both yearlings moved into the flock.
Janis Joplin Blues is a second generation (or F2) captive-hatch BTM, the first produced at The Blues Conservatory. Her
mother Xena was raised by Founder Pair #1 (Ira and Eureka). Joplin's father is Trust, who was raised by
Founder Pair #3 (Bogie and Bacall). Joplin hatched April 23, 2002. She moved into The Flock after weaning. She chose Buster for her mate and on
Aug. 31, 2003, they moved into their own breeding flight. She is one of the youngest ever to
pair up in The Flock environment.

Susan Friedman, Ph.D., is a valued supporter of Bird Endowment. A psychology professor at Utah State University, Dr. Friedman conducts a very popular online class called "Living and Learning with Parrots: The Fundamental Principles of Behavior." Since 2002, participants in one of her sessions each year have been given the opportunity to donate to Bird Endowment instead of paying a fee for the class. Those participants all became Parenting Partners for the following full calendar year. Go here for more information.
