Roland Seitre

Fine Art photography from
photo-journalist team
visiting Nido Adoptivo

Roland and Julia Seitre are husband/wife veterinarians who have extended their passion for animals into careers as professional freelance photo-reporters. Since 1983 their work (first picture published by "La Vie") has been published by all major French publications and many foreign.

Their features generally look for the various forms of interactions and exploitations of wildlife by humanity: rational utilisation, research and conservation, over-exploitation, refuges, ecotourism... They work around the world, but spend a bit more time in South America, South-East Asia and Oceania. Their expeditions often last for two to three months to facilitate in-depth development of their features. Their three children accompany them when possible.

Roland completed his veterinary thesis in 1985. He is attached to the National Natural History Museum of Paris (1987): field naturalist in Ornithology-Mammalogy.

Julia completed her veterinary thesis, 1987. They have been married since 1986 and live in Marray, France.

Hello Laney,
this picture has a story:
it is one of the first I shot on the trip. the trip was very tough with lots of rain and running around and problems of all sorts with the logistics and little sleep and on top my computer with a new program... with which I lost a file of 20 pictures.
this is one of the "lost pictures." no more original file BUT althought the file was lost I still had a view of it on the computer screen. we struggled but finally managed to retreive this "ghost image" in a format was large enough to do this print!
the bird is landing and blury by movement while the box is sharp. note the original nest hollow in the palm tree above which had become a drinking spot (water overflowing darkening the tree trunk).
