Laney Rickman Blue-Throated Macaw Fund
Long-Term Sustainability of the in situ Saving the Blues Program
In September 2017, Laney’s family, Bird Endowment, Asociación Armonia (Bolivia), and American Bird Conservancy partnered to establish the "Laney Rickman Blue-throated Macaw Fund" shortly after her untimely death. The name of this Fund honors Laney Rickman’s life’s work and undying passion for environmental conservation and protection of the Blue-throated Macaw to sustain long-term support for the Blue-throated Macaw and the Nido Adoptivo nest box program in Bolivia. Contributions support ongoing research and resource management on the Laney Rickman Blue-throated Macaw Reserve in Bolivia.
Assets of the fund are invested and managed by American Bird Conservancy and distributed to Asociación Armonía to support the Blue-throated Macaw population in Bolivia. The first disbursement of $34,933 of earned income from the fund was sent to Armonía in June 2021. We are grateful to American Bird Conservancy for their excellent stewardship of this important fund.
