Join Bird Endowment for an inspiring evening upstairs in the new Reflections Building at the Houston Zoo as we celebrate the remarkable comeback of the Critically Endangered Blue-throated Macaw in its native Bolivia—from fewer than 100 birds to nearly 700 today!
Through our Nido Adoptivo™ Nest Box Project with partner Asociación Armonía,164 Blue-throated Macaws have fledged into the wild at the Laney Rickman Blue-throated Macaw Reserve, which protects the species’ most important breeding grounds.
At the event, hear from special guest Bennett Hennessey of Armonía, enjoy his stunning video footage from the Reserve, and discover how nest boxes, habitat restoration, and education programs are helping bring the Blue-throated Macaw back from the brink of extinction.
Learn how by “Saving the Blues” we are creating a safe haven for many other vulnerable species—including jaguars, giant anteaters, maned wolves, jaguarundi, Pampas deer, and more—allowing them to recover and thrive for the long term.
Savor delicious appetizers, wine, beer, and great company.
